A trusted advisor is someone who is relied upon for their expertise, honesty, and guidance for an organization. I strive to provide valuable advice and support by building a strong rapport and trust with my clients. On top of a foundation of over 30 years of industry experience, I bring specialized skills in my work with clients:
1. Understanding of the patterns of organization. This means I can quickly understand what type of pattern an organization subscribes to. The pattern includes the people, the cultural behaviors, tools, structure, and processes. Once my assessment is complete, I’m in a position to advise organizations on how they can change their pattern -- whether the need is minor, like how do we improve our financial management projects, all the way to how do we transform to an agile way of work.
2. Synthesis. My advice and solutions are drawn from a wide variety of industries, contexts, and information sources. My academic training and practical experience work together to cast a wide net for ideas, and apply a rigorous exercise to synthesize those ideas into substantive solutions for my clients.
Organizations change slowly. No amount of organizational change management, cheerleading, carrot-and/or-stick mentality will bring about change faster than the pattern is ready for. By sitting at the elbow of a leader, together we’re able to make micro adjustments to the pattern over time. This allows change at an organic pace which makes changes more sustainable.
